Over 1.8L farmers eligible for loan waiver scheme in Sambhajinagar

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A total of 1,80,176 farmers from across Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district have been declared eligible for Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Shetkari Karjmukti Yojana 2026 — a govt loan waiver scheme for farmers.A sum of Rs1,632.1 crore - the collective outstanding dues towards these farmers - will be waived off, Preshit Moghe, district lead bank manager for the loan waiver scheme said.“Eligible farmers who availed loans from various nationalised and cooperative banks in the district have qualified for the waiver. The Aadhaar linking process is still pending for 712 farmers and account holders concerned are requested to immediately contact their respective banks and complete the necessary linkage,” he said.The authorities said farmers who availed short-term crop loans between April 1, 2019, and March 31, 2025, which remained overdue as of Sept 30, 2025, and were not repaid by March 31, 2026, are eligible for the govt loan waiver scheme. A loan waiver of up to a maximum of Rs 2 lakh—covering the total outstanding amount (principal plus interest) across all eligible loan accounts in one or multiple banks—will be granted.“There is no stipulation regarding the size of the agricultural landholding for the loan waiver scheme.

Farmers whose short-term crop loans were re-restructured into medium-term loans—with installments falling due on Sept 30, 2025—will also be eligible for the loan waiver benefit, subject to a limit of Rs2 lakh,” Moghe said.He added, “Farmers with outstanding dues exceeding Rs 2 lakh are also eligible for the scheme. Upon depositing the excess amount with the respective bank, the govt will pay the amount up to Rs 2 lakh under the one-time settlement scheme.”Farmers who have previously availed the benefit of Mahatma Jotirao Phule Shetkari Karjmukti Yojana, 2019 will be eligible for a loan waiver benefit of up to a maximum of Rs 50,000 under the new scheme, officials said.
