Over 50,000 devotees offered special prayers at the historic Srimukhalingam temple on Sunday night and into the early hours of Monday on Maha Sivaratri. The rush on Sunday was witnesses during the various rituals performed by the chief priest Naidugari Rajasekhar. Normally, on Monday’s the temple witnesses a huge rush, but this year since Monday was immediately after the festival, pilgrims from different places thronged the Srimukhalingam temple.

Other major temples such as Endala Mallikarjuna Swamy temple of Ravivalasa, Umarudra Koteswara Alayam of Srikakulam also witnessed huge rush on Monday. Pilgrims took a holy bath in the Nagavali river before offering prayers at the Umarudra Koteswara Alayam.
