Daltonganj: An 8-month-old baby died of blows to his head while his parents were being assaulted by an allegedly drunk co-villager at Bindu Bigha in Palamu district on Thursday night, police said.
The deceased was identified as Prince Paswan.Police on Friday said that the accused was arrested and sent to judicial custody.Hussainabad SDPO Divyansh Shukla said accused Chitranjan Paswan, 25, attacked Deepak Paswan, 30, and his wife Rupa, 28, with a sharp weapon following a dispute over a trivial issue. “The child, who was in his mother’s lap, sustained blows on his head, killing him on the spot,” Shukla said.Explaining the sequence of events, he added, “Chitranjan was in an inebriated state and hurling abuses.
When the couple opposed him, a heated exchange broke out. In a fit of rage, Chitranjan rushed to his house and returned with the weapon to attack them.”The injured couple and infant were rushed to the subdivisional hospital at Hussainabad, where medical officer Dr S K Ravi declared Prince dead. Deepak sustained severe injuries to his neck and stomach, while Rupa suffered injuries to her palm. Ravi said, “Both were referred to MMCH, Daltonganj.”The baby’s post-mortem examination was conducted on Friday.
