As soon as the Lok Sabha met for the day on Friday (February 6, 2026), many Opposition members trooped into the Well, shouting slogans and displaying placards over various issues.

Speaker Om Birla, adjourning the House till 12 noon, said that in the current session, 19 hours and 13 minutes have been wasted due to the disruptions.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said he wants the House to run and people have elected the members to raise their issues but not to shout slogans.

While urging the protesting members to allow the House to run, Mr. Birla also mentioned that there is a question marked for Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi.

As the din continued, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings in less than four minutes of convening till 12 noon.

The government and the Opposition are at loggerheads over various issues and in an unprecedented development, the Lok Sabha passed the Motion of Thanks on Thursday (February 5, 2026) without the prime minister's customary reply that was scheduled a day earlier in the face of relentless sloganeering by the opposition members.
