Parliament Budget Session Day 10 LIVE: BJP’s women MPs urge Speaker to take action against Opposition MPs

The opposition is considering giving a notice for moving a resolution to remove Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla from office for disallowing Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders from speaking in the House on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address, as well as for the suspension of eight MPs. Both Houses are set to continue discussion on the Union Budget today (February 10, 2026).

Meanwhile, BJP’s women MPs have urged Mr. Birla to take the strongest possible action against the opposition MPs who have committed “heinous acts” like moving deep inside treasury benches, climbing the table and laying a siege of the seat of the Prime Minister.

Yesterday (February 9, 2026), Mr. Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, and some others met Mr. Birla to work out a solution to end the stalemate, as the House has not been functioning properly ever since the former Congress chief was not allowed to speak on the India-China issue last week.

    Parliament that Nehru built is now a pale shadow of its former self: Congress

    The Congress on Tuesday (February 10, 2026) recalled how in 1954 then prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru had sought that more time be given to the opposition benches during the debate on a resolution moved for the removal of the then Speaker, and said the Parliament that Nehru built by sitting, speaking,listening, and accommodating is now a pale shadow of its former self.
