The Lok Sabha on Thursday (April 2, 2026) passed the Central Armed Police Forces (General Administration) Bill, 2026, by voice vote, after it was passed in the Rajya Sabha. The Bill provides for 50% of posts in the CAPFs to be filled by deputation in the rank of Inspector General, and a minimum of 67% of the posts to be filled by deputation in the rank of Additional Director General, and all posts in the ranks of Special Director General and Director General shall be filled by deputation only.

The Rajya Sabha, meanwhile, passed the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill by voice vote. The Bill proposes to amend 784 provisions of 79 Central Acts administered by 23 Ministries. It seeks to decriminalise 717 provisions and amend 67 provisions to facilitate ease of living.

Parliament on Thursday passed a Bill seeking to recognise Amaravati as the sole and permanent capital of Andhra Pradesh with the Rajya Sabha giving its nod to it with a voice vote, and all parties except the YSRCP supporting the proposed legislation.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday confirmed that the Budget Session of Parliament will not be adjourned sine die as originally scheduled but will instead go into recess and reconvene “very soon” for a “specific period” to take up amendments to the Constitution (One Hundred and Sixth Amendment) Act, popularly known as the Women’s Reservation Act, 2023.
