Parliament Monsoon Session Today Live News Updates, July 23: On the third day of the Monsoon session of the Parliament, the National Sports Bill (Sports Governance Bill) is likely to be tabled in the Lok Sabha, aimed at bringing the Indian cricket board BCCI under its preview along with the 45 National Sports Federations (NSFs). If the Bill is passed and implemented as a law, the the BCCI will have to be recognised by a proposed National Sports Board, letting go of its status as an autonomous body. The Bill is aimed at at bringing more transparency, athletic-centric reform and a quick resolution of disputes.

Opposition protests over Bihar SIR: Parliament on Tuesday was rocked by protests over the ongoing voter-roll revision in Bihar, with Opposition MPs raising slogans and carrying placards inside both the Houses. Ruckus in the Parliament led to the washout of proceedings in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on Day 2 of the Monsoon Session. Opposition members were seen trooping to the Well of the House at 11 am, demanding a rollback of the SIR exercise, leading to adjournment of both Houses. At around 2 pm on Tuesday, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till the next day due to constant sloganeering.

MPs push for Yashwant Varma’s impeachment: 145 Lok Sabha members and 63 Opposition MPs in Rajya Sabha submitted a memorandum to remove Justice Yashwant Varma under Articles 124, 217, and 218 of the Constitution. Lok Sabha was adjourned till 4 pm, minutes after resuming at 2 pm as the Opposition continued to shout slogans. However, proceedings resume in Rajya Sabha. Monsoon session will comprise a total of 21 sittings, spread over 32 days, and will conclude on August 21. In between, both the Houses will be adjourned on August 12, 2025, and will reassemble on Monday, August 18, to facilitate Independence Day celebrations.
