Andhra Pradesh Minister for Municipal Administration P. Narayana addressing the media in Nellore on Wednesday.

Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for having the A.P. Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, 2026, passed in the Lok Sabha.

He stated in a press release that the passage of the Bill was made possible by the untiring efforts of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the persistent fight by the farmers against the YSR Congress Party’s (YSRCP) attempts to shift the capital out of Amaravati on whimsical grounds.

Consequent to the passage of the A.P. Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, Amaravati became the Capital of Andhra Pradesh with effect from June 2, 2024, Mr. Narayana said, while noting that the government was focused on developing all the regions, including Amaravati.

Minister for Roads & Buildings B.C. Janardhan Reddy said the Amaravati Bill would give a fillip to development of the State, and the people’s dream had been realised.

Amaravati remained the capital as thousands of farmers who gave their lands under the LPS put up a spirited fight against the YSRCP government’s conspiracies to thwart Mr. Naidu’s vision to develop Amaravati as a greenfield capital that would be an engine of growth for the entire State.

Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh said the passage of the Bill was a significant step towards realising the Swarnandhra vision, and that by opposing the Bill, the YSRCP had once again shown its arrogance.

It was a victory of the farmers and women who had ensured that former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy did not give a tangible shape to the proposed ‘three capitals’, which would have devastating consequences.

Transport Minister M. Ramprasad Reddy said that the credit for the passage of the Amaravati Bill went to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mr. Naidu, whose grit and determination foiled the evil designs of the YSRCP.

Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu said that Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy once again “changed his colours” by saying that the region between Guntur, Vijayawada and Machilipatnam should be developed as the capital, at a time when the Amaravati Bill was being passed in the Lok Sabha.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy lifted the curtains on another drama having had ruined Amaravati for his political gain, the Minister said.
