“I am privileged to be present and worship at the feet of Lord Brihadeeswara. I have prayed at this historic temple for the welfare of 140 crore Indians and for the continued progress of India. I wish that everyone gets the blessings of Lord Shiva," the PM said.
The BJP leader said the names of Raja Raja Chola and Rajendra Chola are synonymous with India’s identity and pride.
“Rajaraja Chola and Rajendra Chola symbolise India’s identity and pride. The history and legacy of the Chola Empire reflect the strength and true potential of our great nation," he added.
PM Modi also acknowledged the historical significance of the Chola dynasty, noting their expansive diplomatic and trade ties across Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Southeast Asia. He pointed out a personal coincidence, having returned just yesterday from the Maldives before attending the event.
“The Chola kings expanded their diplomatic and trade relations to Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Southeast Asia. It is also a coincidence that I returned from the Maldives only yesterday and today I am participating in this event in Tamil Nadu," the PM added.
“This is the land of faith of Rajaraja and the way Ilaiyaraaja immersed us all in Shiva Bhakti in this land of faith…I am an MP from Kashi. And when I hear ‘Om Namah Shivaya’, I get goosebumps. The way Ilaiyaraaja immersed all of us in Shiva devotion in this sacred land, in the month of Sawan, in this land of reverence for Rajaraja Chola, with the penance of Ilaiyaraaja, what a divine and extraordinary atmosphere. Truly remarkable," the PM said, highlighting the spiritual atmosphere created by Ilaiyaraaja’s music.
Speaking at the event, the PM reiterated India’s commitment in eradicating terrorism and protecting the country, saying, “During Operation Sindoor, the world has seen that if anyone attacks India how we can respond."
PM Modi said that India places its highest priority on its security, stressing the nation’s firm stance against terrorism. He emphasized that the operation sent a strong message: “No place is safe for these terrorists and terrorism."
Operation Sindoor, launched by Indian defence forces, targeted terrorist networks and aimed to eliminate safe havens used by terrorists in Pakistan.
