Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared and welcomed Serbia President Aleksandar Vucic’s praise for India’s artificial intelligence progress and its growing global influence, posting his remarks on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
“A fine article by President Aleksandar Vucic of the Republic of Serbia, in which he talks about AI, of course, but at the same time highlights his fondness for India, India’s strides in AI and strong India-Serbia relations!" PM Modi wrote while sharing the Serbian leader’s opinion piece.
In his article published in The Indian Express, Vucic praised India’s technological ambitions and described the country as being at the centre of global conversations on artificial intelligence.
He said India’s approach to AI focuses on “real-world deployment, ethical standards and inclusive innovation" with applications spanning healthcare, agriculture, education and financial inclusion. He noted that this pragmatic model reflects India’s aspiration to become a trailblazer in using technology for societal good.
Vucic also said the India AI Impact Summit places the country “firmly at the centre of the global discourse on artificial intelligence," and credited PM Modi’s vision to democratise access to technology so that its benefits reach everyone, not just a privileged few.
Reflecting on India’s broader trajectory, the Serbian President said India possesses qualities such as “grit, equanimity and self-belief" in abundance and declared that those who underestimate India’s potential would be proven wrong.
“India is not arriving at the future. It is helping to define it," he wrote.
World And Tech Leaders Praise India’s AI Growth
Global leaders and technology executives also voiced strong support for India’s growing leadership in artificial intelligence. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres praised India as the ideal host for the AI Impact Summit, calling the country “a very successful emerging economy" with an increasingly important role in global affairs.
“I see India in the centre of those emerging economies," Guterres said, adding that he has “a lot of hope for the role that India can play in shaping this multipolar world." He also congratulated India for organising the summit and emphasised the importance of ensuring AI benefits all countries, particularly in the Global South.
Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, described the current moment as an “extraordinary time of hyper progress" and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to partnering with India across the entire AI ecosystem.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also backed India’s ambitions, saying the country could emerge as a “full-stack AI leader" capable of building core AI systems, infrastructure and applications.
