The Delhi High Court on Tuesday (February 10, 2026) granted three weeks to Delhi University (DU) for submitting its objection to the delay in appeals against an order refusing disclosure of details of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s bachelor’s degree.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who appeared for the university, argued that “there was nothing in the matter” and it was “only to sensationalise”. He sought time to file a reply on the aspect of delay in filing the appeals challenging the single Judge’s order passed in August 2025. The court has now listed the matter for April 27.

The court was hearing the appeals filed by Right to Information (RTI) activist Neeraj, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh, and advocate Mohd. Irshad against a single Judge’s August 25 order, which had set aside a Central Information Commission decision directing the disclosure of Mr. Modi’s degree.
On August 25, the single JID:udge had set aside the Central Information Commission’s order, saying that only because Mr. Modi was holding a public office, it did not render all his “personal information” open to public disclosure.
Following the RTI application by Mr. Neeraj, the Commission on December 21, 2016 allowed the inspection of the records of all students who cleared their B.A. exam in 1978, also the year in which Mr. Modi passed it.
