Pocso case: Man gets 20 yrs RI for sexually assaulting 9-yr-old girl near Gingee

Villupuram: A special court handling cases booked under the Pocso Act sentenced a 29-year-old youth to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl almost three years ago, on Oct 4, 2023, at a village near Gingee in Villupuram district.

Pronouncing the verdict, special court judge M Vinotha directed state govt to disburse ₹2 lakh as compensation to the survivor. According to the prosecution, the minor girl was playing near a well close to her house when the man, identified as R Rajesh, 29, approached the child and sexually assaulted her.
