Podanur police station hosts baby shower for two pregnant cops

COIMBATORE: Podanur police station in Coimbatore city on Tuesday hosted a baby shower for two pregnant policewomen. Aishwarya and Monisha, who are serving at the Podanur police station, and their husbands were given a heartwarming welcome by other personnel led by inspector P Ashok Kumar.

Following age-old customs, police officers presented the expectant mothers with traditional silk saris and sets of bangles, and their husbands with dresses and shirts, along with trays of fruits and flowers.In a scene more common in a household than at a police station, senior officers applied sandalwood and vermilion on the women’s foreheads, showered them with flower petals, and offered blessings for safe delivery. The police team curated a lavish spread of 16 varieties of traditional dishes, which were served to the couples and their families. The families, moved by the gesture, expressed their gratitude, saying that the station felt less like a govt office and more like a welcoming home.“We wanted to bridge the gap between the khaki and the public. This was not just a ceremony; it was an emotional connection with the community we serve. With the support of our superior officers, we arranged this event,” said inspector Ashok Kumar who arranged the baby shower celebration..
