Police and drug control department raid medical store for illegal sale of drugs

The Hunsur town police and the officials of the Drugs Control Department raided a medical store in Bilikere near here for the alleged illegal sale of drugs to youngsters.

The received a medico legal certificate from a private hospital in Mysuru when Irfan, 21, a resident of the town, was admitted for treatment as an inpatient due to extreme pain and loss of control over his right hand.

In his statement, Irfan revealed that he, along with his friends Mohammed Khajir and a juvenile in conflict with law, had purchased a drug from one Bilal of a medical shop in Bilikere.

The youngsters had diluted certain tablets and injected them into their hands. The drug, purchased without prescription, were being sold to customers at ₹500 for an injection, the statement said.

The police registered a case under the provisions of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act against Irfan, Mohammed Khajir, and the juvenile.

Meanwhile, the police and the officials of the Drugs Control Department carried out a joint raid at the medical shop.

The person, who sold the drug to the accused persons, was absconding, the police said, adding that a legal action has been initiated against the shop.
