Popular WWE star wants “to be next John Cena of professional wrestling”

John Cena is one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time. He has put in years of work, dedication, and effort to set a benchmark of professional wrestling. While Cena has inspired millions across the globe, popular WWE star Chelsea Green is one of them.In a recent edition of The Chicago Times, the former WWE Women’s United States Champion said that she wants to become the John Cena of the women’s division. Green wanted to take her fame beyond professional wrestling, like Cena, and continue to put in the work and help talent as The Cenation Leader did for decades.She said, “I would love to be the next John Cena of professional wrestling for the women’s division. I would love to be in movies and TV and elevating the next generation of WWE talent, but that’s a big goal. So, you know, I’m going to continue to work on that and put it out into the universe, and I’ll manifest, and whatever happens, happens.”

John Cena retired from WWE in 2025

John Cena had been the Franchise Player of WWE for a long time. In 2024, he announced his retirement tour which began in January 2025. This marked the final leg in the career of The Never Seen 17. During his farewell tour, the WWE Universe saw some memorable moments like Cena turning heel, winning his record-setting 17th World Championship, and wrestling his iconic rivals like Randy Orton and CM Punk.

His final opponent was Gunther, who won ‘The Last Time is Now’ tournament, outlasting multiple RAW and SmackDown stars to earn the right to face Cena. The match took place at December’s edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. It was a highly captivating singles showdown that had the fans invested throughout the entire bout. However, it ended on a heartbreaking note. Gunther had Cena trapped in the sleeper hold, which Cena tried to escape multiple times.However, once he realised that there was no way to escape, Cena had a smile on his face and tapped out. This saw the end of one of the most illustrious careers in WWE history, and the entire WWE locker room came out to applaud The Never Seen 17.
