The second portion of the Shahpura railway overbridge on the Jabalpur-Bhopal route collapsed at around 5 pm. 

Panic spread after a portion of a bridge on NH 45 collapsed in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur on Sunday. As per the reports, the second portion of the Shahpura railway overbridge on the Jabalpur-Bhopal route collapsed at around 5 pm.

A video of the site is being shared on social media, and it shows passers-by around the bridge and a huge portion of road slipped, collapsed. As of now, no injuries have been reported.

According to a resident in the area, one portion of the bridge got damaged earlier. “One portion of it had been damaged earlier, the pillar had sunk. This evening, at around 5 p.m., the other portion beside it also collapsed," Jitendra Singh Sengar told IANS.

Madan Singh Raghuvanshi, SDM Shahpura reached the site and said, “In Jabalpur, Bhopal’s new highway no. 45, the bridge over the railway near Shahpura collapsed. On one side, there was repair work going on."

Another official told PTI that the road is under maintenance. Divisional Manager of Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation Rakesh More said, “It is actually an approach road, and some maintenance work of fascia panel was going on. And as part of the maintenance process, they are doing this work by stopping the traffic."
