New Delhi: Adobe has officially started to extend its support for the testing camera application, Project Indigo, by bringing it to selected iPads and the latest iPhone 17e. This upgrade broadens the device compatibility while adding the latest features aimed at improving how users capture and manage photos.

Adobe stated that this application aims to deliver more natural-looking images by using computational photography and AI, and continues to evolve based on user feedback and ongoing upgrades.

Project Indigo also uses computational photography to capture multiple images in quick succession and to combine them into a single photo with lower noise and better dynamic range. Most of this processing will happens automatically in the background, by requiring little user input.

Viewfinder also offers tools such as live histogram, zebra striping to highlight the overexposed areas, and a level for the straighter shots.

Project Indigo is specially designed to offer users more control while keeping images closer to a natural look. Rather than heavily altering photos, it relies on the custom imaging pipeline to produce results similar to those from DSLR cameras. When users are generating JPEGs, the application applies subtle adjustments to the elements, such as subjects and skies.

It also retains full image data in raw DNG files, by ensuring that the original image remains unchanged for next editing. Adobe has started to add some usability improvements. A latest grid view in the filmstrip enables the users to browse photos more easily, alongside a multi-selection option for sharing or deleting images.

Users can now also import multiple photos directly into Adobe Lightroom in one go using the same multi-selection features. In addition, filtering options have been unveiled by letting the users sort photos by categories such as All Photos, Indigo Album, and Favorite.

Another option is to display the 35mm equivalent focal length for the rear camera, which can be allowed in the capture settings.
