A minor boy and girl died by suicide after jumping in front of a train in Rajasthan’s Alwar district on Friday morning, police said.

On receiving information, police, Railway Police and GRP teams reached the spot. The bodies were taken into custody and sent to the mortuary at Rajgarh Community Health Centre (CHC). After post-mortem, the bodies were handed over to the families.

Police said the two minors were in a relationship, but their families did not approve. Distressed over this, they allegedly took the extreme step. Before his death, the boy posted a status on his social media account, writing: “Achanak mar bhi gaya to dukhi mat hona mere dost, vaada dosti ka kiya tha zindagi ka nahi. (If I die suddenly, don’t be sad my friend, I had promised friendship, not life)."

According to police, both the minors studied in the same school. The boy had passed Class 12 this year, while the girl had entered Class 12. A forensic team reached the hospital and collected necessary evidence.

The boy’s father told railway cop that his son left home without informing anyone on Friday morning and went to Surer railway station with the girl. He said that the two died by suicide due to their relationship and said he does not suspect anyone.

Meanwhile, the girl’s father told police that his daughter was at home till 11 pm on Thursday night and the family slept in the same room. When he woke up around 5 am on Friday, she was missing. Despite searching, her whereabouts could not be traced. Later, it was found that she had gone with the boy and died by suicide at Surer railway station.

Railway Police has registered a case based on statements from both families and has begun an investigation.
