The Thanjavr Medical College Hospital police are interrogating a school teacher in connection with the death of a student at Thanjavur.
According to police, a 16-year-old boy studying in a private school in the town, was found dead at his house on Monday morning. He was rushed to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Subsequently, the Thanjavur Medical College Police took custody of the body and sent it to the medical college hospital for postmortem.
Meanwhile, the bereaved parents and relatives of the boy reportedly found a handwritten note in his room. In the note, the boy had claimed that he was forced to take this extreme step as a teacher in his private school had accused him of having ‘illicit relationship’ with a classmate when he and the girl were engaged in a discussion at their classroom last week.
Fearing humiliation, he had decided to take the extreme step of ending his life.
Parents and relatives of the boy gathered in front of the school and demanded the arrest of the teacher mentioned in the suicide note.
The Thanjavur Medical College police pacified the protesting persons by taking the school teacher to the police station for interrogation. They seized the ‘suicide note,’ police sources said.
