Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday asked officials of the youth, employment and skill development department to accelerate efforts towards the state’s targets of providing skill training to 50 lakh youths and employment opportunities to 5 lakh people.Chairing a review meeting of the department at Sankalp Sabhagar in Lok Sewak Avas, the chief minister’s residence, Samrat asked officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan for expanding Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across Bihar and strengthening employment-oriented training in various sectors.He also instructed the department to work towards skilling 25 lakh youths under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana. Youth, employment and skill development minister Arun Shankar Prasad was present at the meeting.Samrat said the homestay model should be promoted in areas surrounding training institutes. He asked officials to formulate an action plan for providing incentives to encourage homestay facilities, which could support trainees while creating local livelihood opportunities.The chief minister also directed officials to expedite appointments against vacant posts in universities and ensure educational quality through stronger academic and administrative systems.
Reviewing the backward classes and extremely backward classes welfare department, Samrat asked officials to establish a tie-up with IIT Patna. The proposed collaboration aims to help girl students of Classes IX to XII studying at the Other Backward Classes Girls Residential Plus Two High School prepare for medical and engineering entrance examinations.He further asked officials to encourage and honour academic achievers. Matriculation and Intermediate toppers should be felicitated immediately after the declaration of results, he said. Successful candidates from Bihar in BPSC and UPSC examinations should also be honoured collectively along with their parents to inspire other students.
Backward classes and extremely backward classes welfare minister Rama Nishad attended the meeting.Reviewing the science, technology and technical education department, Samrat said centres of excellence should be established in phases in all govt polytechnic institutions across Bihar to equip students with training in modern technologies and meet evolving industry requirements.
