PU CET (PG) concludes with 91% attendance; over 7,000 candidates appear

Chandigarh: The Panjab University Combined Entrance Test (PU CET-PG) 2026 concluded on Saturday after being conducted over three days, with more than 7,400 candidates appearing for admission to 39 postgraduate and professional programmes.According to university officials, 8,119 candidates had registered for the entrance examination, of whom 7,413 appeared, taking the overall attendance to 91.3%.The entrance test was held on June 19, 20 and 21. Attendance remained above 91% on all three days. On the first day, 2,768 of the 3,036 registered candidates appeared, recording an attendance of 91.1%. On the second day, 2,909 candidates appeared out of 3,183 registered, taking attendance to 91.3%.

The third day witnessed 1,736 candidates appearing out of 1,900 registered, resulting in an attendance of 91.3%.The final day’s examination was conducted at five centres, including two in Chandigarh and one each in Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana and Sri Muktsar Sahib.Among the programmes examined on Saturday, MSc (Hons school) Mathematics recorded the highest attendance at 94.8%, with 220 of the 232 registered candidates appearing.

MSc (Hons. school) Chemistry registered an attendance of 92.8%, while MSc (Hons school) computer science (specialisation in data science) recorded 92.7%.Attendance in MSc. (2-Year) Microbial Biotechnology stood at 92.5%, followed by MSc (Hons school) zoology at 92.2%. Other programmes included bioinformatics/system biology and bioinformatics at 90.08%, MPEd at 89.3%, BPEd at 89.3%, and master in geo-informatics at 85%.MSc (Hons school) geology recorded an attendance of 70.5%. PU controller of examinations Prof Jagat Bhushan said flying squads and observers had been deployed at all examination centres to monitor the conduct of the test.Jammers were also installed to prevent the use of mobile phones and other Wi-Fi-enabled devices inside examination venues.University officials said the examination was conducted without any untoward incident at any of the centres.Question booklets and answer keys for the entrance examination will be uploaded on the university’s examination website on June 23.
