PUC student alleges sexual assault by lecturer, FIR filed

Ballari: A botany lecturer from a private college in the city has been booked by the Ballari women’s police station for allegedly sexually assaulting a PUC student on the promise of marriage.According to the complaint lodged by the student, she came into contact with the lecturer, identified as Ravikiran, in 2025, and the two later developed a relationship. The student alleged that the lecturer repeatedly promised to marry her and, on several occasions, took her to isolated locations where he sexually assaulted her.The student later informed her parents about the alleged incidents. Subsequently, she and her parents approached the Ballari Women’s Police Station and filed a formal complaint.

Based on the complaint, police registered an FIR against the lecturer.Officials from the women’s police station have launched an investigation into the case. Police sources said they are in the process of recording the victim’s statement, gathering evidence and collecting relevant information to ascertain the facts.Further investigation is under way.
