Questioning of Bandi Sai Bageerath begins in POCSO case

The Petabsheerabad police on Wednesday began questioning of Bandi Sai Bageerath, who was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl.

This comes a day after the Medchal-Malkajgiri court granted two-day custody of the accused. He was subsequently shifted from Cherlapally Central Prison to Medchal Government Hospital for medical examination as part of custody formalities.

Bageerath was later taken to Aranya House in Moinabad, where police carried out scene reconstruction and further questioning as part of the ongoing investigation by a Special Investigation Team.

The case was registered on May 8, 2026, after the mother of a minor girl lodged a complaint alleging that the accused had sexually assaulted her daughter. He was arrested by the police on May 16 in connection with the case and was subsequently produced before a court, which remanded him to 14 days’ judicial custody.

Further investigation is under way.
