"Change is the law of universe. You can be a millionaire or a pauper in an instant"

Bhagavad Gita is one of the sacred Hindu text that teaches a lot about life and how should one tackle life's struggle and accept the changes that come in your life. Bhagavad Gita is all about Krishna Gyan that he gave to Arjuna when they were in the battlefield of Kurukshetra.

So, today we will talk about the statement that is mentioned in Bhagavad Gita - "Change is the law of universe. You can be a millionaire and a pauper in an instant", this line teaches about the impermanence means nothing is permanent in life. Let's understand the meaning of this quote in detail:

Change is the law of universe:

Lord Krishna was explaining this to Arjuna that impermanence is the fundamental nature of the law. The things you have today such as money, position, success, relationships, joy these are not permanent because these things are associated with the materialistic world that is meant to be changed.

This teaching is not about creating the fear but to give the clarity that nothing is permanent the this world. Lord Krishan emphasized that materialistic world is all about constant change as nothing is fixed here such as seasons change, human nature changes, your position changes - today you re nobody but tomorrow you may become the CEO of the company and everybody will know you.

What is the meaning of - "You can be a millionaire and a pauper in an instant"

According to Krishna, what is gained can be lost in a second and vice versa.

According to the statement "you can become a millionaire or a pauper in in an instant means nothing is permanent and the external security is fragile because universe does not promise you permanence, it can give movement. What you think is yours today can be somebody else's tomorrow. According to Bhagavad Gita, wealth is never glorified as the goal in the book but never rejected also. It is described as a temporary thing which you get according to your karma.

Wealth can be accumulated though effort and luck and you lose it due to time or fate or change that happens in your life.

Change and Karma

The law of karma means your current situation is based on your past actions because it is mentioned in the book that your past actions shape your present and future. Change can not controlled but how behave and how we respond to it that is in our control. Inner stability is very important in the world where nothing is permanent. Change can not threaten you if you accept the fact in your mind that materialistic things are not permanent, they can be changed anytime any moment.
