Koraput: Commissioner of railway safety (CRS), south eastern circle, Brajesh Kumar Mishra on Monday conducted a detailed inspection of the newly-built second railway line between Manabar and Jarati stations in the district.Officials said the 10-km stretch is part of the Kottavalasa–Kirandul doubling project under the Waltair division of East Coast Railway. The newly laid section has been built with 60-kg rails and includes two major bridges, all designed to meet 25-tonne axle load standards. Speed trials were conducted as part of the safety checks and were completed successfully. “After a thorough inspection and satisfactory speed trials, the section has been found fit for full-fledged commissioning,” Mishra said.Divisional railway manager Lalit Bohra said the completion of this stretch would significantly enhance line capacity and improve the movement of passenger and freight trains in the region. “This is an important milestone in the Kottavalasa–Kirandul doubling project and will help in ensuring smoother and faster rail operations,” he said.Officials said the achievement reflects the coordinated efforts of the civil engineering, construction, signal & telecom and electrical departments, working closely with the operations and traffic planning teams of Waltair division.
