A tragic case of a 14-year-old girl being lured and gang-raped has led to a landmark life imprisonment verdict in Rajasthan. The court's stringent punishment reflects the seriousness of crimes against minors in India.

Love trap, abduction, repeated rape: Two sentenced to life till death for assault on minor
A 14-year-old girl was lured out of her home on the promise of marriage, taken to another city and repeatedly gang-raped before being rescued, a crime that has now led to one of the harshest punishments under law.
A POCSO court in Rajasthan’s Alwar district has sentenced two men to life imprisonment till death in the case of gang rape of the minor. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of the convicts.
GIRL VANISHES OVERNIGHT
The incident came to light on November 6, 2024, when the girl went missing from her home while her family was asleep. In her complaint, the girl’s mother said the family woke up in the morning to find the 14-year-old absent from her room.
The family immediately grew suspicious of Mohit, a youth who had visited the house earlier to meet the girl. When relatives reached his residence, they discovered that Mohit too had been missing since the previous night.
Police were alerted and an FIR was registered.
ACCUSED TRACKED TO BHIWADI
During the investigation, police traced Mohit’s mobile phone location to Bhiwadi. A police team, accompanied by the girl’s family, reached the town and arrested Mohit along with his associate Ankit.
Investigators found that Mohit had first drawn the minor into a relationship and convinced her to run away with him. On the way, he picked up his friend Ankit, after which the two took the girl to Bhiwadi.
REPEATED SEXUAL ASSAULT CONFIRMED
Police said both accused were employed at a company during the day and stayed together at night. During this period, the girl was repeatedly subjected to gang rape by the two men.
The victim was medically examined after her rescue, and the medical report confirmed sexual assault. Both accused were arrested and produced before the court, following which they were sent to judicial custody.
TRIAL AND SENTENCING
The trial continued over several hearings, during which the prosecution examined 22 witnesses and submitted 26 documents before the court.
Based on the evidence on record, the POCSO court held Mohit and Ankit guilty of gang rape of a minor and sentenced them to life imprisonment till death. A fine of Rs 10,000 was also imposed on each.
After the verdict, both convicts were sent back to jail to serve their sentences.
