A woman accused of killing her husband with help from her boyfriend in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar allegedly had a seven-year extramarital affair, and her family members were also aware of this relationship.

Anju, 23, is accused of plotting the murder of her husband, Ashish, 27, with the help of her boyfriend, Sanju. The duo then tried to pass it off as an accident. Anju told the police that she and her husband were hit by a vehicle during an evening walk, but Ashish’s body was found to have injuries that indicated that he was strangled.

When her phone was examined, it was discovered that she had been in regular contact with a man named Sanju, who lived close to her house. Police then found out that Anju, apparently unhappy with her marriage, had plotted to kill Ashish with the help of her boyfriend and his accomplices.

What Led To The Murder?

According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, Anju was in a relationship with Sanju for nearly seven years, and her family members were aware of this relationship. Despite marrying Ashish three months ago, Anju allegedly attempted to meet Sanju under the pretext of pursuing her studies.

Anju made up an excuse to complete a BA degree from Sri Ganganagar and talked to Ashish’s parents about it. However, Ashish flatly turned down his wife’s request, which further angered her. She discussed the matter with Sanju and they both hatched a plot to murder Ashish when Anju visited her hometown. After returning to her in-laws’ house on January 30, Anju lured Ashish outside on the pretext of going for an evening walk.

Anju asked Ashish to accompany her on a walk and took him to an isolated road. The three attackers – Sanju, and his accomplices, Rocky, Badal, and Siddharth – hit him on the head with sticks and strangled him with a muffler. Meanwhile, Anju handed over her phone and earrings to the attackers to make it look like it was a robbery.

All the accused have been arrested. Anju has been placed in two days of police custody, while the other accused men have been remanded to police custody for five days.

How The Accused Knew Each Other?

According to the police, Anju and Sanju studied in the same college and gradually became close. Her family members were aware of this relationship. However, on October 30, they arranged Anju’s marriage with Ashish, which caused great resentment within the duo.

The murder plot for Ashish was hatched while Anju was visiting her hometown 16 days ago. Ashish had joined a private school as a teacher just three days before the murder, according to the Bhaskar report.

Ashish’s post-mortem report revealed that he was still living after receiving serious injuries on the back of his head, due to which he was strangled, which was confirmed by the marks on his neck. Police got suspicious of Anju’s account when they found no injuries on her.
