Parvatipuram municipality needs upgrade as corporation: MLA

Parvatipuram MLA Bonela Vijaya Chandra has urged the State government to upgrade Parvatipuram municipality into a corporation to ensure better civic amenities for residents of the town and its surrounding areas.

Speaking at the municipal general body meeting held on Friday, he said the upgradation would enable the civic body to access more funds from the government. He said that about 100 developmental works would be taken up simultaneously in 30 wards in the near future.

Mr. Vijaya Chandra said residents of the outskirts would also benefit from development activities following the merger of surrounding areas with the municipality. He added that the government had initiated steps to rename streets that were earlier identified by community names in Parvatipuram town.
