Rajasthan Volleyball Player Kidnapped, Beaten To Death Over Love Affair With Minor Girl In Haryana

Police said an FIR has been lodged on the basis of a complaint filed by Monu’s family, and two suspects have been detained for questioning.

A 21-year-old volleyball player from Rajasthan was allegedly abducted and beaten to death by the family of a minor girl he was reportedly in a relationship with, officials said on Saturday.

The victim, identified as Monu, was a resident of Saidpur village in Rajasthan’s Bhiwadi, while the girl belongs to Faridabad, police said.

Police said an FIR has been lodged on the basis of a complaint filed by Monu’s family, and two suspects have been detained for questioning.

According to the complaint, the girl’s family allegedly kidnapped Monu, kept him tied inside a house for three days, denied him food and repeatedly assaulted him. The family also alleged that he was later thrown out of the house in a severely injured condition.

He was admitted to a hospital, where he later died during treatment, police said.

Narender Kumar, Monu’s uncle, said the 21-year-old had won several state-level medals in volleyball and had recently cleared Class 12 with 70 per cent marks.

“In April, a case was registered against him at the Tigaon police station for kidnapping a minor girl. However, the girl was later recovered. A police investigation against Monu has been underway since then," he added.

Kumar said Monu left home on May 17 after informing the family that police had called him for questioning.

“He said the police had some questions to ask. During this time, the girl’s family abducted Monu from the road. He was tortured from May 17 to 20. Then, they threw him out of the house. “That same day, we received information from the police that Monu was injured and was being taken to the hospital for treatment. We immediately reached the hospital where he died on Friday," he said.

A Faridabad police spokesperson said a case had been registered and an investigation was underway.

“Two suspects were detained and we are questioning them," the official said.
