“I am no superstar, but I am content with where I have reached in life” — Ram KapoorRam Kapoor celebrated his 52nd birthday on Monday, sharing that he feels healthier and younger than he has in over 25 years.
The actor, who lost over 55 kilos in 18 months, posted a shirtless mirror selfie on Instagram flaunting his pumped-up muscles and captioned it: “Defy your age!! 52 years old today! I’m feeling healthier and younger than I have felt in more than 25 years!! Age is just a number.
”In a world obsessed with six-pack abs and perfect gym bodies, Ram believes that real fitness goes beyond appearances. In a chat with Mumbai Mirror, he says, “I agree that we seem to have lost sight of what fitness and health really mean.
Having a perfect gym body, six-pack abs, losing weight or becoming thinner does not mean you are healthy. I know a lot of overweight people who are much healthier and fitter than many thin people I know.
One should focus on being healthier and fitter. If that gives you a great body, it’s a bonus. But don’t just focus on the body while ignoring fitness and health.”The Bade Achhe Lagte Hain actor admits that his current sense of well-being is hard-earned.
He shares, “I was a very unhealthy man. I was obese, weighed 140 kilos, had type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and all the classic signs of that lifestyle. I was also working non-stop then. My doctor had told me that I would get a diabetic stroke if I continued that way. Now, the best part about how I feel is not my body or the six-pack I am working on, but the fact that I can walk for 10 hours without wanting to sit down.
I didn’t have that earlier. Changing my lifestyle has worked wonders for me.
I am feeling the results so strongly that I can say this is the best I have felt. My son and daughter have also lost tremendous weight. My son has lost 20 kilos, and both of them are looking their fittest. Everybody in the house is ridiculously fit now and it’s fantastic.”With a renewed approach to life, Ram says his birthday resolution is about shifting priorities. “I truly believe I have achieved more than I expected, and I am at a place where I am very happy internally, mentally, and emotionally.
I am no superstar, but I am content with where I have reached in life. Now, I want to focus a lot more on myself and my personal life. Whatever work happens will keep happening because work is work, but that’s not my primary focus.
We get so caught up with work all our lives and we don’t have a choice, but when is enough? I have made that choice. I have more than I had dreamed of, so now it’s time to sit back and focus on myself, my family, and all the things I couldn’t earlier because I was busy creating for them. I want to focus on myself a lot more now — not only on health and fitness but also mentally and philosophically. I want to enjoy my life and my time with my family.”
