Ranchi: Ranchi Municipal Corporation mayor Roshni Khalkho on Monday handed over “push carts fitted with bins” to sanitation workers to improve door-to-door waste collection and promote segregation at source across wards. Each cart is equipped with four detachable bins — two green and two blue — for separate collection of wet and dry waste. “This will help sanitation workers collect waste in a more organised manner and reduce mixing of garbage on streets,” Khalkho said.Meanwhile, a 288 sq ft shop at Ratu Road Chowk was sealed after it was found operating as a liquor outlet in violation of the Jharkhand Municipal Act, 2011.Officials said the shop had been allotted on an annual licence basis but was misused. “Despite three prior notices and an undertaking to vacate by March 31, the operator continued business. The premises have now been shut with immediate effect,” the statement read.
