NSUI Submits Memorandum to Governor Over Academic Delays, VC Appointment

Ranchi: The state unit of National Students Union of India (NSUI) on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, claiming that Ranchi University (RU) students were facing several impediments in their academic courses and demanded an early remedy to their problems. The NSUI demanded appointment of a regular vice chancellor (VC), regularisation of academic sessions, correction of mistakes in degree certificates, inquiry into the missing answer sheets from the university and early conduct of the students’ body election, which has not been held since 2019.NSUI state president Vinay Oraon, who led the delegation, later claimed that the governor assured that a regular VC would be appointed in the coming days, adding that measures would be taken to prevent delays in sessions. The NSUI also submitted a memorandum to the RU’s VC office regarding its demands. The NSUI officials informed media persons that examinations of two semesters were pending for the 2022-26 academic session. They further said the examination of one semester has been conducted for the 2024-28 batch while no examination has been held for the 2025-29 session. Oraon opined that students are deprived of their democratic right due to postponement of students’ body elections.

They stated that RU has not held an entrance test for PhD of the 2024 batch even after taking the examination fee.Oraon, while talking on the issue, said, “Our organisation would launch a ‘Mahadharna’ from April 13 in case the demands are not met in four days. During the protest, students from all over the state would gherao the RU till they get an assurance from the state govt.”
