Successful reconstruction of three bridges at Aliyavada station yard completed in just 10 days

Rajkot: In a major step towards strengthening railway infrastructure and improving operational safety, Western Railway’s Rajkot division successfully reconstructed Bridge 311 at Aliyavada station yard, replacing the old structure with a modern RCC twin box bridge. The bridge upgrade is part of the ongoing doubling project under the Rajkot division and aims to improve water discharge capacity and ensuring safer train movement, especially during the monsoon.According to Sunil Kumar Meena, senior divisional commercial manager of the Rajkot division, the old bridge was an old RCC slab-type structure with a span of 2 by 1.83 metres. It has now been replaced with a modern RCC twin box bridge measuring 2 by 1.85 by 1.56 metres.Officials said the new structure significantly enhances water flow capacity, reducing the risk of waterlogging near the tracks and improving the overall stability and safety of railway operations. The reconstruction work was completed on May 20, 2026, in a block period of just seven hours through coordinated efforts by the construction department. The operation involved removal of railway tracks, dismantling of the old bridge, launching of new RCC boxes along with base slabs, re-laying of tracks and adjustments to overhead electrical equipment (OHE).

Railway authorities said all activities were completed within the scheduled timeframe, allowing services to resume smoothly without major disruption.Rajkot divisional railway manager Giriraj Kumar Meena said the successful completion of the project reflects the division’s focus on modernization and passenger safety. He added that reconstruction work on Bridge Nos. 309, 310, and 311 at Aliyavada station yard had been completed within just 10 days, demonstrating efficient planning, strong coordination and rapid execution by the railway teams.According to railway officials, the infrastructure upgrade will enhance the reliability and safety of train operations while supporting future traffic and passenger service requirements in the region.
