Relief pours, washes out heat, humidity

Lucknow: Residents woke up to pleasant weather on Tuesday morning as overcast skies and intermittent showers brought temporary relief from rising temperatures. Parts of the city also saw a mix of clouds and bright sunshine, as the day progressed.By evening, a thunderstorm accompanied by light rainfall and gusty winds measuring up to 55 km per hour lashed the city, further easing hot and humid condition.Met department has indicated similar weather conditions are likely to persist till Thursday. Senior scientist at IMD Lucknow, Mohammad Danish, informed that the system is linked to Western Disturbance active over Afghanistan, Pakistan and Punjab, along with a cyclonic circulation over western UP.“A new WD is entering west UP on Apr 7 that will impact most parts of the state on Apr 8 and gradually weaken by Apr 9, under its influence, gusty winds, rain and thunderstorms are likely in most of the state. This may lead to a drop of around 5 to 6 degrees Celsius in temperatures. Weather conditions are expected to turn clear and dry from Apr 10,” he added.
