Claims that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) raided the office of Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard and seized files linked to the assassination of former US President John F Kennedy and the MKUltra program triggered a storm online before the DNI’s office publicly denied the allegations.

The claims gained traction after a discussion aired on Fox News, in which it was alleged that “agents hauled out dozens of boxes" from Gabbard’s office containing files related to the JFK assassination and MKUltra, a controversial CIA program associated with mind-control experiments conducted during the Cold War era.

During the segment, a speaker claimed, “Tulsi Gabbard’s office. Agents hauled out dozens of boxes, files on the JFK assassination and MK-Ultra, the CIA mind control operation, which she was in the process of declassifying."

The discussion further claimed that a whistleblower had made the allegation during a deposition and that Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna had “confirmed it moments ago."

Soon after the claims spread online, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence denied the reports.

Olivia Coleman, spokesperson for the DNI, posted on X, “This is false — the CIA did not raid the DNI’s office."

The speaker also referred to an executive order allegedly directing the “full declassification" of JFK-related records and MKUltra files, saying, “The CIA famously has said that, you know, all documents were released and other documents had been destroyed. So these are allegedly those documents that apparently never existed."

The segment then questioned whether the CIA could “overrule the President," prompting the response, “No, the CIA cannot overrule the president. The CIA cannot even overrule the director of intelligence."

The discussion referenced the 1975 Church Committee investigation into intelligence agencies, claiming then-CIA Director William Colby had ordered MKUltra files destroyed.

“Eighty-five per cent of them were destroyed. He was held in contempt of Congress," the speaker said, later adding that “CIA employees lined the halls and contributed cash to pay for the fine that he was ordered to pay."

The speaker also claimed the surviving records represented “15 per cent of the files that weren’t destroyed," adding, “They are mandated to be declassified. The American people have a right to know what is in these files."

The segment further alleged that the CIA had conducted LSD experiments on both “willing and unwilling participants" during the Cold War.

Among the examples cited were alleged operations involving citizens in San Francisco and “a small village in France."

One claim stated that intelligence operatives had allegedly put “LSD in the yeast at the only bakery in the village just to see if everybody in the village would go nuts."

Another allegation described a purported program in San Francisco where prostitutes were allegedly hired “to dose Johns and see if they would cough up their innermost secrets."
