Republic Services Receives 2025 Career Catalyst Award from Next Generation in Trucking Association

Company recognized for its commitment to creating pathways for young truck drivers and diesel technicians  

PHOENIX (July 1, 2025) — Republic Services, Inc. (NYSE: RSG) has been named a recipient of the 2025 Career Catalyst Award, presented by the Next Generation in Trucking Association. Sponsored by the National Transportation Institute, this recognition highlights fleets that are creating meaningful career paths for young truck drivers, diesel technicians, warehouse associates and others.

Since its launch in 2021, the Republic Services Technical Institute in Dallas, Texas, has become a cornerstone of the company’s workforce development strategy. Initially created to help address the national diesel technician shortage, the Technical Institute has since broadened its mission, now offering a wide range of tuition-free, paid training career advancement opportunities for both new and current employees.

Programs include the Apprenticeship Program, Continuous Development Program, In-House Driver Trainee CDL Program, and New Hire Supervisor Training. The Apprenticeship Program and In-House Driver Trainee CDL Program provide entry-level pathways for individuals of all experience levels to launch careers as Heavy Equipment Preventive Maintenance Technicians, Marine Technicians, Hauling Division Diesel Technicians, or Drivers.

The Continuous Development Program supports technician growth at every stage, offering more than 50 advanced courses led by certified trainers and manufacturer partners to help employees enhance their skills and advance their careers.

Most recently, on April 14, 2025, the Technical Institute introduced New Supervisor Training, providing role-specific training for all newly hired or promoted supervisors. This program highlights Republic Services’ goal to empower employee growth through continued development.

In 2024, 281 new diesel technicians graduated from the Republic Services Technical Institute and 165 employees earned their Commercial Driver’s Licenses.

The Next Generation in Trucking 2025 Career Catalyst Award celebrates innovative training programs, high school outreach, CDL development partnerships and forward-thinking workforce strategies designed to attract Generation Z and millennial talent into the trucking industry.
