Amid pandemonium which ultimately led to indefinite adjournment, the monthly council meeting of Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) approved a resolution seeking the creation of Greater Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation even as a proposal to bifurcate HDMC to facilitate the creation of a municipal corporation for Dharwad is pending before the Governor for approval.

Two years ago, the municipal council discussed in detail the proposal to bifurcate the municipal corporation to create a new municipal corporation for Dharwad and subsequently, passed the resolution to the effect.
