A 71-year-old retired head constable was killed when a KSRTC bus knocked down his motorcycle in Rajaji Nagar on Wednesday evening.
The deceased, identified as Hanumantharayappa, worked with the City Armed Reserve and was a resident of Chikka Banavara. He had gone to the PF office to get an update on his pension and was returning home.
The KSRTC bus allegedly knocked down Hanumanthrayappa’s bike. He lost balance, slipped from the bike, and came under the moving wheels of the bus.
The severely injured Hanumantharayappa was rushed to a near-by hospital where he succumbed later.
The Rajaji Nagar traffic police arrested the driver and seized the bus.
Residents alleged that the road condition led to the accident. They blamed the BBMP officials for digging up the road frequently for repair causing traffic problem and posing a threat to the motorists and pedestrians.
