Special Chief Secretary (Revenue) and Chief Commissioner of Land Administration Gopal Ratnam Jayalakshmi addressing the gathering on the occasion of Revenue Day in Vijayawada on Friday
A massive rally and formal celebrations were held at the NTR District Collectorate and the State Revenue Bhavan in Vijayawada, attended by the Revenue Department officials and dignitaries. “Public service is our foremost duty.” was the message of the day that resonated across the State. The revenue employees resolved to uphold the department’s credibility and strengthen its image as a trustworthy institution in the eyes of the public.
Addressing the gathering, Special Chief Secretary (Revenue) and Chief Commissioner of Land Administration Gopal Ratnam Jayalakshmi said that her father served in the Revenue Department, and she grew up witnessing his sense of duty. Revenue staff are like the mothers of the State’s administration—quietly but effectively serving the people’s needs. But just as times change, so must our approach. The work of revenue employees is a direct reflection of governance quality. The revenue employees have to win public confidence through sincerity and service-mindedness, she said.
Three guiding principles
Ms. Jayalakshmi emphasised that three guiding principles for every revenue officer were pride – feeling proud that the public’s issues are resolved through the Revenue Department. Culture – maintaining polite and respectful behaviour with citizens, and performance – ensuring speedy and transparent disposal of petitions.
A.P. Revenue Services Association State president Bopparaju Venkateswarlu said that Revenue Day is not just a celebratory occasion but a moment for self-assessment. “It is a day to reaffirm our commitment to provide faster, more transparent and responsible services to the people,” he said.
