A 23-year-old train passenger, who alighted from a train proceeding to Mysuru at Kengeri station, leaving behind her backpack containing a laptop and other documents, managed to get it back in Mysuru, thanks to swift action by Railway Protection Force (RPF).
Bhagyalakshmi, a native of Gadag, who had travelled to Yeshwanthpur, boarded the Train No. 16591 at Yeshwanthpur railway station to Kengeri on Friday. In her rush to disembark at Kengeri station, she forgot her backpack on the train and took an auto to her destination.
Upon realising her mistake, she immediately filed a complaint through Rail Madad, the Indian Railways’ grievance redressal platform.
The complaint was received by Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable Vijender, who was on platform duty on Friday. He attended the complaint and quickly traced the backpack on the train, said a statement by RPF.
The item was brought to RPF post in Mysuru and the concerned passenger was duly informed to collect her belongings.
After a verification of the claimant’s identity by Assistant Sub-Inspector, RPF, Mysuru, Mr Prasi, the backpack containing the laptop and other documents, estimated to be valued at ₹ 72,000, was handed over to Ms. Bhagyalakshmi after receiving an acknowledgement from her, said a statement.
