Rules of the Land Assignment (Amendment) Act will come into force this month, Minister for Revenue K. Rajan has said.
He was speaking after presiding over district revenue assemblies of Idukki and Wayanad at the fifth meeting of the Revenue department’s ‘Vision and Mission 2021-26’ here on Thursday.
The Rules, he said, gave the people of Idukki the right to unrestricted use of the land. It would benefit not only Idukki but other districts too. It would mark the realisation of demands of the people in the high ranges for over six decades.
The government, Mr. Rajan said, was trying to fix the rules before September. Its interventions to address problems related to the title deed in Idukki district were continuing.
The Minister replied to submissions from Idukki MLAs M.M. Mani, Vazhoor Soman, and A. Raja who took part in the assembly, which also discussed issues related to title deeds
The Minister directed the Revenue officials to examine the applications and complete the procedures for distribution of title deeds even as the government attempts to end litigations related to title distribution.
