Saha flags ADC ‘fund irregularities’ under Motha, seeks scrutiny

Agartala: CM Manik Saha on Monday raised concerns over alleged irregularities in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC), governed by the BJP’s alliance partner TIPRA Motha, and called for scrutiny of the council’s activities and financial transactions.Saha said allegations point to “massive irregularities” over the past five years, claiming ADC funds meant for development of tribal areas and communities were used for “illegal contracts and foreign travels of the leaders.”He also alleged that the socio-economic condition of backward communities had worsened under TIPRA Motha’s rule and that ethnic divisions among communities, including between tribal and non-tribal groups, had widened, posing a threat to peace and harmony in the state. The CM said the state govt was monitoring the alleged irregularities and would disclose facts “at the appropriate time.”On disputes over the formation of village committees in the council, Saha accused certain groups of creating legal hurdles to disrupt the election process through “unethical and illegal means.” He said new committees were formed in violation of protocol to obstruct elections, but the decisions were later reversed under pressure.

Saha also criticised political moves linked to the proposed Bishramganj Nagar Panchayat area, alleging attempts to mislead the public and trigger controversy for political gains. He said “the truth had prevailed,” misconceptions had been cleared, and BJP remained committed to protecting the ADC from “detrimental politics” while ensuring development and transparent governance. He urged party workers and supporters to remain united to establish a BJP-led administration in the ADC, and said voter awareness was driving momentum for stable, development-focused governance in ADC areas.
