Saikia urges voters to back BJP candidate in Golokganj

Dhubri: Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia addressed a rally at Lakhimari High School playground near the India-Bangladesh border in the Golokganj assembly constituency of Dhubri district on Monday.“Please first take a pledge on the 46th foundation day of BJP (which came into being on April 6, 1980) that you will send party candidate Ashwani Roy Sarkar (from Golokganj) to Dispur with a huge margin of votes,” Saikia urged the gathering.Saikia said the people of Golokganj have been hurt by their inability to send their party candidate in 2021, and expressed concern that the past five years saw little development. “Sitting in the opposition, Congress legislator couldn’t do any development,” Saikia said.Saikia alleged that 55 years of Congress misrule had left a trail of devastation across all sectors. However, since BJP coming to power in 2016, develoments have been taken place, including construction of bridges, roads, colleges, universities, engineering colleges and improvements in the health sector.“Apart from ushering in an era of development,it also opened the gate socio-economic development along with various social welfare schemes benefiting the poor and poverty stricken people of state,” Saikia said.
