The San Francisco Unicorns (SFU) pulled off a thrilling two-wicket victory over the Seattle Orcas (SEO) in Match 11 of Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum on June 26.

Chasing 192, the Unicorns held their nerve to reach 192/8 in 19.4 overs, with all-rounder Brody Couch starring with both bat and ball to earn the Player of the Match award.

Seattle Orcas squander flying start

After electing to bat first, Seattle Orcas got off to a sensational start. Tim Seifert smashed 32 off just 14 balls before Shayan Jahangir stole the show with a blistering 62 off 25 deliveries. Matthew Breetzke continued the assault with a fluent 51 off 29 balls as Seattle looked set for a total well in excess of 220.However, the Unicorns mounted an impressive comeback in the latter half of the innings. Brody Couch led the charge with figures of 3/41, while Xavier Bartlett (2/30) and Ghulam Mudassar (2/44) chipped in to trigger a dramatic collapse. Seattle lost wickets in clusters and were eventually bowled out for 191 in 19.2 overs.

Pretorius shines before Couch seals dramatic finish

San Francisco's chase began on a shaky note as early wickets put them under pressure. Lhuan-dré Pretorius then produced a breathtaking counterattack, smashing 87 off just 39 balls with five fours and four sixes to drag the Unicorns back into the contest.

After Pretorius fell, Seattle fought back with timely wickets to force a tense final over. Needing 12 runs from the last six balls, Brody Couch rose to the occasion against Dasun Shanaka. The all-rounder smashed a six off the second ball, followed it with a boundary to level the scores, and calmly took a single on the fourth delivery to complete a remarkable two-wicket victory with two balls to spare.
