The Saajan Ghar director breaks silence on allegations against Ujjwal Sharma; says, ‘She was unwell, we gave her a 30-40 day break’

Sanchita Ugale died by suicide on June 14 at the age of 22. She was a part of The Saajan Ghar and had taken a break from the show due to health issues. Recently, Sanchita’s close friend, Indraxi Kanjilal, alleged that the late actress had faced harassment from her co-star Ujjwal Sharma. The director of the show has now reacted to the allegations and mourned the demise of the young actress.Speaking to Telly Masala, he clarified that Sanchita was not replaced on the show and had taken a break because of her health condition. The director said, “She was not replaced from the show against her wishes. It was done through mutual understanding because she was unwell. We had called her parents and discussed the situation, saying that their child’s health was not good and asking what should be done. They suggested that it would be easier for them if she were given a break so they could focus on helping her recover.

He further shared, “We gave her a break of around 30-40 days, considering that the show’s shooting was ongoing and would continue for a long time. We also assured them that we would call her back later. It was a completely mutual decision; there was no disagreement from either side.”

When asked whether the show’s team had taken care of her medical expenses, he said, “Yes, that is true. If someone falls ill on set, it becomes our responsibility to take them to a doctor and get them checked.

At that time, her health was indeed a little unstable, so we arranged for her to be examined by a doctor.”Talking about her bond with Ujjwal, he said, “Everyone would say the same thing that she was very good, and the chemistry between them was excellent. We never felt that there was any issue between them. Even today, I don’t think so. But yes, if there are chats that have surfaced, then it’s shocking for me as well. Actors like Sanchita are rare. She was a very good actor. I’m not the only one saying this everyone knows it. Sanchita was an excellent actor.

If something like that was written in a chat, and if Ujjwal really said it, then I don’t know. Maybe it was said by mistake, I don’t know. But Sanchita was a very good actor.”
