Sara Arfeen Khan: Festivals are about sharing joy beyond our homes

Sara Arfeen Khan recently marked Holi in a meaningful way, spending the festival with children with fewer opportunities and bringing joy beyond her own circle. Known for celebrating occasions with purpose, Sara turned this year’s festivities into an opportunity to share, inspire, and create.Sara, who has appeared in Bigg Boss 18 and films like Sooryavanshi and Singhan Again, shares, “Holi is usually a time for colours, music, laughter, and friends. But for me, festivals have always been about extending joy beyond our homes. Every year, Arfeen and I try to contribute to society, whether it’s distributing food, supporting children’s learning and creativity, or doing small initiatives that spread kindness.

We’ve also made sure to instill this value in our kids from a very young age.”Through the Sara Arfeen Khan Foundation, she brought Holi to children with fewer opportunities by giving them art supplies and colours, encouraging them to paint their dreams on canvas. She says, “Seeing their little hands create something beautiful truly made our Holi special. Art has always been close to my heart, and sharing it with these children, watching them express themselves freely, was incredibly fulfilling.

Earlier, we did such efforts quietly as a family, but the foundation allows us to do it in a bigger, more organised way, with support from friends, family, and well-wishers.”Beyond acting, Sara is focusing her energy on meaningful social work. In a previous interview, she said, “Through my company and foundation, I’m creating opportunities for children to express themselves through art. I’ve also been conducting Art Therapy seminars in Mumbai and Dubai for women and children, and it’s fulfilling to see the positive change it brings. Even if I’m not doing many films right now, this work feels purposeful and true to who I am.

”For Sara, festivals like Holi are no longer just about celebration. They are an opportunity to nurture creativity, inspire hope, and remind herself and others of the joy in giving back.
