Schoolboy crushed to death by speeding tanker in Raipur

Raipur: A speeding water tanker crushed to death a 15-year-old boy walking to his tuition classes in Raipur on Wednesday morning. The tanker sped away after the accident. Police said the driver has been identified and will be arrested soon.Viral CCTV footage shows the boy, Mahaveer Sharma, with a bag slung over his shoulder, walking along the roadside when an unidentified motorcycle brushed against him. The boy staggered and fell. He is seen attempting to stand up after the tanker’s wheels had passed over him. Locals rushed towards him, but he succumbed to his injuries on the spot.Investigators are also examining the movement of the unidentified bike.

Police suspect the bike’s sudden movement may have caused the teenager to lose balance or come dangerously close to the tanker’s path. Officials are probing whether the biker accidentally pushed or brushed against the boy moments before the impact.Police said the unidentified biker was among the first people to reach the teen after the accident.The incident sparked outrage in the locality, with residents alleging that speeding tankers and heavy vehicles continue to move recklessly through residential and school zones despite repeated accidents.
