Security aide held over alleged molestation

Kolkata: Security aide of former mayor and ex-MLA Sovan Chatterjee was arrested after being accused of molesting the minor daughter of his associate, police said.The accused, identified as Sanju Sharma, was arrested following a complaint lodged at Rabindra Sarobar Police Station by the close associate.

The complaint alleged that she too was physically assaulted when she attempted to intervene.According to sources, the woman has been living with her daughter at his residence for several years. Sharma was serving as his security guard for a long time.The complainant claimed that the accused had recently been found in an intoxicated condition while being on duty. Despite repeated warnings from Chatterjee and several confrontations with the woman over his behaviour, no improvement was seen, she alleged.The incident took place some days ago. The woman and her daughter were at the apartment, where Sharma was also present. The complaint alleges that Sharma molested and assaulted the girl. Hearing her cries, she rushed to the spot and confronted him. She was allegedly beaten up during the altercation.A case was registered on the basis of the complaint, and Sharma was subsequently arrested. Police have launched an investigation into the allegations.
