The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) on Sunday (August 10, 2025) organised a cricket tournament for students of the social welfare hostels at the ITI Grounds in Kongareddypalle locality here.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) State leaders Vada Gangaraju and Balasubramanyam inaugurated the event and appreciated the participation of students from SC, ST, and BC hostels.
They urged the State government to ensure that social welfare hostels have sports material and also curb the sale of gutka and other drugs near educational institutions. They further demanded that the students travelling long distances from hostels to colleges should be transported safely.
The SFI is conducting a series of competitions in sports and games across the Chittoor district as part of the Independence Day celebrations, and the prizes will be presented on August 15.
