Surat: About 15 individuals and companies doing exemplary work for the upliftment of the society were felicitated at the SGCCI golden jubilee award organised by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) at Sarsana.
The golden jubilee award function was attended by Sandeep Engineer, President of GCCI and Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Astral Limited.
Nikhil Madrasi, president of SGCCI said that former SGCCI president Rajnikant Marfatiya, had started the SGCCI Golden Jubilee Memorial Trust and Golden Jubilee Award with the aim of appreciating the individuals and institutions who do important work for the upliftment of the society along with the industry during his tenure as the President. Through this award, a good message can be given to the society that if you do significant work for the industry and the society, then the society appreciates you and due to this, others also get encouragement.
Sandeep Engineer, President of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Astral Limited, said that his career also started from Surat and this city has taught him a lot. He appreciated the SGCCI Golden Jubilee Memorial Trust’s activity of awarding and encouraging entrepreneurs who have done excellent work in various industries and business sectors. Such initiatives provide new inspiration in the industry, he added.
Engineer stated that GCCI is also planning to organize an award ceremony in a similar manner. He also requested theSGCCI to include one or two new awards at the Gujarat level to promote important sectors like MSME, startup and entrepreneurship.
This year, SGCCI Golden Jubilee Memorial Trust honored Dr. Nimesh Vashi, Chairman and Managing Director of Enviro Control Pvt. Ltd. with the ‘Special Lifetime Achievement Award’. On this occasion, Dr. Nimesh Vashi said that this award is not just an honor but a blessing. He said that at a time when environmental protection is becoming a serious and challenging issue at the global level, the initiative of the Chamber to encourage individuals and organizations working for environmental protection by giving awards is highly commendable, which provides inspiration for better work.
Dr. Vashi further said that water treatment plants are operating in a total of 45 cities in India including Surat, in which the Surat plant has been ranked first by the Government of India. Being a resident of Surat, he feels proud that the water management sector of Surat city is gaining recognition at the global level. He expressed confidence that he will continuously strive to take ‘Brand Surat’ forward.
Rajnikant Marfatiya, Chairman of SGCCI Golden Jubilee Trust, said that the awards have been given by the Trust for the last 36 years. The Trust distributes awards in various fields every year in South Gujarat region. It is a matter of pride for the Trust and the Chamber of Commerce that the Trust’s awards are considered as honorary awards. A jury of renowned industry experts, educationists and social workers was appointed to award the Golden Jubilee Awards to deserving individuals. This year, the Trust gave awards in 15 categories for the year 2024-25, which are as follows.
1. Reliance Award for Excellence in Weaving Sector – AAS TECH was awarded.
2. Reliance Award for Excellence in Yarn Processing Sector – Raymond Lifestyle Ltd, Valsad was awarded.
3. Reliance Award for Excellence in Fabric Processing Sector – Shri ISCON Jari House was awarded.
4. Shri Nimish Vashi Award for Outstanding Performance in Environment Conservation and Pollution Control – Yasho Industries Ltd, Dahej.
5. Shri Ratilal Tribhovandas Nanavati Award for Outstanding Work in Research and Development – Anupam Rasayan India Ltd.
6. Colortex Award for Outstanding Performance in Energy Conservation – Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel India Pvt Ltd.
7. Alidra Award for Excellence in Improving Productivity – General Group of Companies.
8. Ather Award for Outstanding Achievement in Social Welfare Program by Business House – L&T Heavy Engineering was awarded.
9. NJ India Award for Outstanding AchieverMent in Social Welfare Program by NGO – Rotary Eye Institute, Navsari was awarded.
10. Fair Deal Filaments Award for Outstanding Entrepreneur in MSME Segment – Aelea Commodities Limited was awarded.
11. Anupam Rasayan Award for Outstanding School – AMNS International School was awarded.
12. Mahavir Synthesis Award for Outstanding Institute/College of Education – Sarvajanik College of Engineering & Technology SCET was awarded.
13. Smt. Bhavaniben N. Mehta Award for Outstanding Chief Executive Officer – Dr. Sujit Paul (Group CEO, Zota Pharmaceutical Limited) was presented.
14. Shri Girdhargopal Mundada Award for Outstanding Business Person – Shri Viren Shah (Chairman & Managing Director, Jivraj Tea Limited) was presented.
15. Dr. Nimesh Vashi (Chairman & Managing Director, Enviro Control Pvt. Ltd.) was honored with the Special Lifetime Achievement Award.
